AccelerComm shortlisted for Global Mobile Award for LEOPhy – Supercharging 5G satellite communications.
London, UK – 14th February 2023 - AccelerComm, the company supercharging 5G with a complete physical layer solution which increases spectral efficiency and reduces latency, today announced that it has been shortlisted for a GSMA’s Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award in the Best Digital Tech Breakthrough for companies with under $10 million Annual Global Revenue Category for LEOPhy, a layer 1 modem that delivers enhanced performance for low-earth orbit 5G satellite communications.
5G Satellite is set to be a hot topic at MWC and we look forward to discussing the importance of spectral and power efficiency with vendors and operators at the show. We are truly pleased to receive this recognition for our technology and are looking forward to the ceremony in Barcelona," said Eric Dowek, Segment Marketing Director, AccelerComm.
LEOPhy was selected as a finalist by an illustrious panel of judges and the winner will be named in a
ceremony on Tuesday 28 February, 18:00 – 19:00 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The
GLOMO Awards are recognized as the most prestigious recognition scheme in the mobile industry.
They are judged by a panel of independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile
operator representatives. This complete layer 1 solution supports a large number of beams and high subscriber density and is optimised for low-power and size. LEOPhy is O-RAN compliant and has been tailored to deliver maximum flexibility and reliability to enable more efficient 5G satellite communications, boasting the lowest error rates while also consuming less power than competing products. As a result, it
ensures a high-reliability link without having to resort to higher coding rates and low modulation schemes, thereby maximising spectral efficiency, particularly important in satellites where channel capacity is highly constrained, compared to terrestrial networks.
“The past twelve months have seen an explosion of interest in the Near-Terrestrial Networks (NTN)
5G satellite market, however in order for it to be a success it’s critical that solutions meet a high bar for efficiency and performance,” said Eric Dowek, Segment Marketing Director, AccelerComm. “5G Satellite is set to be a hot topic at MWC and we look forward to discussing the importance of spectral and power efficiency with vendors and operators at the show. We are truly pleased to receive this recognition for our technology and are looking forward to the ceremony in Barcelona.”
